This is why we made the list of ten unique restaurants and the theme and vibe each one of them has to offer. Even though this is a list, there is no number one, because they are all unique in their own way. If you are in search of a place which can bring you fantastic food and unforgettable experiences, you came to the right place.
Bangkok: Vertigo Restaurant and Moon Bar
If you are afraid of heights, you might want to pass this one since you can find nine more on the list. However, just in case you enjoy some high-quality concept dining, this is the right choice for you. Vertigo Restaurant and Moon Bar will provide you with a dinner-in-the-sky experience you will never forget. Don’t worry; it’s perfectly safe out there!
Vertigo is located at the skyscraper’s top, as a part of the Banyan Tree Hotel.
Cambodia: Vista Restaurant
This Cambodian restaurant is located right in the middle of the Koh Rong Archipelago in Sihanoukville as a part of a private hotel. Vista Restaurant guests can approach it by walking over an amazing bridge over crystal-clear blue ocean water.
Just imagine — salt in the air, clear ocean beneath you, and the best chefs employed to prepare fresh food and drinks. You can taste local flavours or a more Western cuisine.
Maldives: Ithaa Restaurant
This one just happens to be our top choice, taking into consideration the location, amazing food, service, and design. This is by far the best theme restaurant we have ever seen. It is built 16 feet below sea level in the precious Maldives.
Even the meaning of the word Ithaa is symbolic — the mother of pearls. And just like a pearl, this restaurant stands tucked in the middle of the Indian Ocean. However, the seating capacity is fourteen guests at a time.
You can reach your table by walking down the spiral staircase. Ithaa is a part of the Conrad Maldives Rangali resort. While you enjoy your meal, you can observe sea life passing over your head. We bet that some of the most amazing photos you’ll ever make will be precisely from this perspective. Also, there is an excellent view of the reef with colourful corals.
Spain, Lloret de Mar: The Disaster Cafe
Ok, this doesn’t sound so promising, right? Like, who would want to go somewhere disastrous and pay for it? Well, this might just be the only disaster in the world that you are about to fall in love with! Moreover, this isn’t a random disaster; it’s earthquakes!
This restaurant is marvellous, with a fantastic design and a great idea behind it. If you happen to visit the Disaster Cafe, you can expect to feel the simulated earthquakes at a 7.8 on the Richter scale. Don’t worry; it’s completely safe.
Thailand: The Grotto
The Grotto is located in Thailand. The other name — Cave Dining. After hearing this, you should have a pretty clear idea about the design the architect wanted to achieve here. If you decide to be their guest, you will be seated in a cave on the Phranang Beach.
You can enjoy a fantastic view and even better service because the food speciality is seafood barbecue.
Maldives (Again): Huvafen Fushi
Huvafen Fushi is located in North Male Atoll in the Maldives. This is a private island resort which enjoys a five-star rating and high popularity. The big pool sparkles all day long, transferring into the exotic romantic Dans le noir experience by night.
As a guest, you get to choose whether to dine in the splendid wine cellar or on the beach. Both options are combined with the 43 bungalows, privacy, and professional service. This means — plenty of restaurant seats, people!
United Arab Emirates: Ice Restaurant
For decades, the United Arab Emirates has represented one of the most popular places to visit on this planet. The reasons are many. Thus, it is no wonder that one particular restaurant takes a special place on our list; the location is excellent and famous for its unique design and architecture.
Right in the middle of hot United Arab Emirates, there is an exclusive dining place named Ice Restaurant. And just like the name says, it is made entirely of ice. The owner decided to use pure ice to fill in the interior. As fun as this may sound, you would need a warm coat and many layers of clothes if you decide to be their guest.
Have in mind that the surrounding area has a harsh climate, which makes this experience even more chilling! With this dining experience, would you expect the service to be as cold? Nope, the only warm thing here is polite employees’ smiles. Don’t count on spending too much time here, unless you have a wish to become ice cream, instead of eating one. However, this experience will stick to your memory, that’s guaranteed!
Philippines: The Labassin Waterfall Restaurant
This unique restaurant is located in San Pablo City, Philippines, as a part of the Villa Escudero Resort. Served on bamboo tables, the food is delicious and rather one-of-a-kind. Once you decide to dine here, prepare yourself to soak those toes because the tables are in the middle of a shallow river, right next to a waterfall.
One of the greatest things here is that you can’t feel the heat since the water serves as a natural air conditioner. And to top it all up, the Labassin Waterfall Restaurant hosts dance shows followed by the sounds of traditional Philipino music.
Thailand: Bird’s Nest
If you have never heard of the Soneva Kiri Eco Resort, we are here to fix this. Namely, this is the home of the Bird’s Nest Restaurant, which just happens to be one of the finest ones in the world.
The position and the whole concept of this restaurant are entirely different from anything you have experienced before. And why is that?
Because just like the name itself says, this is literally a bird’s nest, placed in actual trees. You are about to sit 16 feet above the ground. Hence, you get to taste great food, beverages, and a spectacular view of the local landscape from a great height as well. The waiters use specially designed zip-line in order to bring your order.
Zanzibar: The Rock Restaurant
Now, we came to an end, but we have saved a real gem for the end. Zanzibar is a trendy island in the Indian Ocean. In case you like white-sand beaches and light-blue crystal water, this is a must-see. Surprisingly, the climate isn’t too hot, and the resorts there are captivating. It is the closest place to heaven you can ever visit.
And once you come to this spectacular place, where to go? Well, to the Rock Restaurant, where else? Don’t worry; you don’t need GPS; just ask anyone in case you missed it, which is highly unlikely. The restaurant is positioned in the middle of the water on the Michanwi Pingwe Beach.
You can take the canoe, swim to it, or simply walk because the surrounding crystal clear water is pretty shallow there. However, it’s not all about the appearance because the overall service and food are fantastic too.
